Sometime ago, “God” was “uncool” and atheism was cool. For a long time, “Jesus” was “uncool” but the Kanyes and Biebers are making Him “cool”… starting to be a part of pop culture. I sit back, observe, and laugh.

Most Christians want to perform great miracles like in the days of Jesus. They want “their shadows to heal the sick” as in Acts 5. Those who have walked with God long… I don’t mean they have gone to church for years but those who have beaten their bodies up to deny worldly pleasures for years… know that you do not want to be found close to “miracle-performing” until God has worked on your character. .
.
Before Moses fled Egypt, he was a hot tempered man. God allowed him years in the wilderness, in marriage, to work on his character. In fact, when God finally called him, he was called a humble man (Num. 12:3). He wasn’t, in Egypt. God worked on his character through marriage AND THEN had an encounter with him, which led to the release of Isrealite slaves.

Before the death of Jesus, Peter was quite the talkative, constantly in competition with meek John. His betrayal caused him to be quiet and introspective for a while. So that when Jesus came for him to feed His (Jesus’s) sheep, he had become more quiet and outward focused.

On the flipside, Judas was a thief and hothead from the start. He was there when Jesus performed miracles and perhaps performed some too when Jesus sent out the disciples. Yet, he had no character. He was not interested in changing, just in being counted as one of the number until he betrayed Jesus. We know where he ended.

Zeal without knowledge is futile, brethren (Prov. 19:2). Peter warns us in 2 Peter 1:5-9 that without developing godly character, we will be unproductive. .

If you are seeking power in #2020, perhaps first ask God to help you with your character. So, He will be pleased to call you His ambassador. Then, He will use you.

Be blessed. .
